2023 GMAS Vertical Ski Challenge
Ski or Ride for Green Mountain Adaptive Sports to help collectively raise $10,000 to support Programming for Veterans!
Join us in the 2023 GMAS Vertical Ski Challenge on any day of your choice in March 2023 for a day of skiing and riding at Stowe Mountain Resort, or at any other resort to raise funds for Green Mountain Adaptive Sports and Programming for Veterans.
The Vertical Ski Challenge is open to anyone wishing to ski or ride to raise money for this important cause. Each individual fundraiser can choose to either get pledges for each vertical foot of skiing they complete, or set a specific money goal they hope to raise for their effort.
Donors can also choose to donate to the general campaign at any time, or donate to a specific fundraiser so they can achieve their personal goals. People can donate until March 31st.
The event started in 2022 when Stowe Ski Instructor and GMAS Board of Director member Tom Hall set out to ski over 55,000″ of vertical elevation to mark his 55th birthday. He achieved, and even surpassed his goal, skiing over 79,000″ of vertical elevation in one day. Through his fundraiser, he also raised over $16,000 which was used to upgrade GMAS’ adaptive ski equipment. Read the story.
This year, Tom will be skiing on Monday, March 20th at Stowe and challenging himself to match last year’s accomplishment. Join him for a few runs, and make a donation to his fundraiser.
Many people have since asked to be a part of the fundraiser which we are opening to anyone wishing to ski or ride for the cause.
Participants are responsible for setting up their own campaign using the link in the button above and promoting it to their friends and family. Participants are also responsible for keeping track of their runs and vertical feet of skiing or riding, preferably on the Epic Mix App, or an App of their choice. It is easier to ask for a fixed donation than a pledge the way this system is set up, but it is still a lot of fun to keep track of total feet skied in one day.
For safety reasons, participants are invited to ski independently, and responsibly, but are encouraged to ski and ride with friends and supporters! Send us your photos!
All the donations raised will be collected through the GMAS online donation platform. There is also an option to make an offline donation on the platform if donors prefer to send a check to GMAS.
All proceeds raised through the 2023 GMAS Vertical Ski Challenge will support Green Mountain Adaptive Sports in expanding programming for Veterans with disabilities. This is a major strategic goal for GMAS, and we appreciate your efforts in helping us honor our veterans by facilitating their participation in all we have to offer.
We will keep collecting donations for the GMAS Vertical Ski Challenge until March 31st. We wish to remind everyone that safety is the number one priority, so we encourage people to ski responsibly, and set up achievable goals. Thank you for supporting the cause.
