Green Mountain Adaptive Sports is helping fund and coordinate an adaptive ski camp for veterans of the Wounded Warrior Project at Stowe Mountain Resort on January 23-25, 2024.

This will be the second year that the Wounded Warrior Project organization partners with GMAS to coordinate a most memorable experience for the veterans, many of whom have never skied before.

To help support the camp, Green Mountain Adaptive Sports ran a Vertical Ski Challenge fundraiser last March with funds earmarked for future veteran programs and camps such as this one. As a result, thanks to the generosity of donors, GMAS can offer the Wounded Warrior Project organization a grant that will help support some of the camp’s expenses. GMAS truly feels honored to be part of this event which we hope will happen for many years to come.

The Move United Warfighters program is also providing a grant to pay for part of the equipment, instructions and registration fees of this event.

The camp has grown from eight to ten participants this year, and provides the warriors with adaptive ski lessons led by certified PSIA-AASI ski instructors and assistants from the Spaulding Adaptive Sports Centers, and from Stowe Mountain Resort. They are also supported by volunteers from Green Mountain Adaptive Sports.

The warriors and their families will stay at The Lodge at the bottom of the slopes at Spruce Peak, and share their time between the ski hill, the pool, the gym, and Stowe Rocks where they will have the opportunity to enjoy adaptive indoor climbing lessons.
