Skoaches adaptive skateboard training
Green Mountain Adaptive Sports and Talent Skatepark have teamed up to provide a Skateboard Coaching (Skoaching) adaptive skateboard training on Saturday, May 17 and and Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Our intention is to bring an adaptive skateboard program to Vermont athletes with neuro and physical disabilities who might not otherwise be able to participate in regular programming at Talent Skatepark beginning in the Fall of 2025.
Skoaches Training to be held
Saturday, May 17, 4pm-8pm
Sunday, May 18, 8am-12pm (this session will include hands-on training with adaptive athletes.)
Talent Skate Park, 266 Queen City Park Rd, Burlington, VT 05401
$20, Skoach trainees MUST attend BOTH sessions
Maximum of 2 participants from each other adaptive sports programs
Up to 20 participants interested in becoming adaptive skateboarding coaches.
Requirements
Skoaches must have completed the following BEFORE participation in the event:
- Safe Sports Training ($20, 90 minute online training)
- Vermont State Background Check for Vulnerable Populations ($30)
- With proof of completion for the above requirements AND completion of the 2 day Skoaches training, Talent Skatepark will provide a $50 reimbursement to cover the costs.
- Completed Talent Skatepark Waiver.
- Basic proficiency with skateboarding, no advanced skateboard skills needed.
- Must be 16 years old and over.

Seeking Adaptive Athletes
If you are, or know of any adaptive athletes who would like to be a participant for hands on practice on Sunday, May 18, 8:30-10am OR 10:30-12:00pm, please have them fill this application form. Someone from Talent Skatepark will contact you soon after the application is completed. We cannot guarantee that all applicants will be selected. This will be free of charge for athletes, who will also need to sign a Talent Waiver.
Your Trainers from Ability Skateboarding & Action Sports
Andrew Garcia, Executive Director/Lead Coach
Andrew Garcia was born and raised in San Antonio Texas. Growing up he had a passion for skateboarding and action sports. Andrew graduated from UTSA with a degree in Communication and Non-Profit Management. After College Andrew went into the nonprofit field supporting adaptive sports organizations before creating Ability Skateboarding. Now he is the Executive Director and Head Coach of Ability Skateboarding.
Cris Hampton, Graphics, Merchandise, Coach
Cristopher Hampton was born in LA, raised in Mexico City, and is now a native Texan. In San Antonio Cris has developed his skills as an interpreter, language instructor, artist, screenprinter and graphic designer. While running his screenprinting business he helped lead the initial concept for skateboarding clinics with Andrew and, since 2017, Cris has assisted with coaching and further developing the program. Cris believes skateboarding and other action sports are beautiful mind-body connectors and loves being a lead coach for Ability skateboarding.
What to Bring
REQUIRED: Skateboard, Sneakers, Helmet, Proof of completed waiver, SafeSports & VT Background check.
SUGGESTED: Water bottle and snacks.
