By Jack Clark, GMAS Scholarship Recipient and Alchemist Brewery Employee.

Sunday, October 4th, was a warm wonderful day to complete the Virtual Heady Trotter! The Alchemist Brewery in Stowe is known to most of you for their delicious beer. The Alchemist plays host to the Heady Trotter which is organized by Great American Brewery Runs.

Alchemist co-workers get ready for the 4-mile virtual race.

For Green Mountain Adaptive Sports, the yearly race is a huge fundraiser that contributes to scholarships that allow adaptive athletes to ski, swim and participate in other fun activities all year long. I am one of the lucky scholarship recipients who also works at the Alchemist.

My boss, Molly, and a couple of other co-workers asked me to race with them. Of course I said yes! We had board members Cynthia Needham and Marcy Pelkey join us and cheer as Molly, Hallie, and Chrissy whipped me through the 4 mile race.

A special thank you to owners John, Jen, and their son Charlie Kimmich, as well as the curbside retail crew for cheering us on as we approached the finish line. Although this year’s race was virtual due to Covid-19, over $17,000 was raised for Green Mountain Adaptive and it has now become our biggest and primary fundraiser! Molly and I are already brainstorming for Heady Trotter 2021 to hopefully include more Green Mountain Adaptive Sports racers.
