Race to the Top of Vermont 2024

Adaptive bike riders celebrate at the summit of Mt. Mansfield in the Race to the Top of Vermont. We are thrilled to facilitate the participation of any adaptive athlete interested in taking part in the 2024 Northern Delta Dental Race to the Top of Vermont again this year. The Stowe event is put on by our friends at the Catamount Trail Association and will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Please sign up early to participate, or volunteer.

Not familiar with the annual event? The Race to the Top of Vermont draws hundreds of hikers, bikers, and runners from across the U.S. and Canada to climb or bike Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak. The course follows the historic Mansfield Toll Road, which is 4.3 miles long and ascends 2564 vertical feet. For some, it’s all about trying to achieve a fast time on this challenging course. For others… it’s about the camaraderie and the spectacular views while supporting non-profit organizations close to their hearts such as Green Mountain Adaptive Sports and the Catamount Trail Association.

ADAPTIVE ATHLETES PARTICIPATE since 2022

Adaptive riders reach the summit at Race to the Top of VT.Four adaptive athletes participated in 2022 (read story here) in the inaugural edition of the now fully inclusive event. In 2023, we had seven athletes (read story here.)  Can we double that number this year?

We encourage anyone with a disability who loves a good challenge to join Team GMAS in this exciting ascent alongside hundreds of other adrenaline seekers. Please commit early so we can assist you if needed.

This year, adaptive athletes riding an e-assist bike will be included in the new e-bike category, which is not an official “race,” but a great way to participate in this fun event. Want to run or hike, you’ll be included in the running or hiking division. We’re all participating in this fun event together!

Whether you choose to walk, run, or bike, Green Mountain Adaptive Sports is happy to offer support. We can assist with securing a support team, locating adaptive equipment to use at the event, or any other needs that you may have. The sooner we know you are interested, the better we can support you. Join our team!

VOLUNTEER

A group of friends hang out after the adaptive bike race. There are many ways to participate in this event.

  • Support an athlete. We will need a few strong men and women to assist athletes on the course. Hard work with a huge collective reward.
  • Join as a volunteer. You can help at the GMAS tent, offer water and snacks to the racers at the finish, etc. There is no need to be a world-class athlete to be a part of this great event! You can make a difference, and have some fun too! Reach out to pascale@greenmtnadaptive.org.
