Green Mountain Adaptive Sports is pleased to host 10 veterans from The Marines of Golf Battery 2nd Battalion (2/10) from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in Stowe on January 12-17. The group will ski and rock climb at Stowe Mountain Resort, stay at the Commodores Inn, and enjoy all that Stowe has to offer during their 5-day stay in the Green Mountains.

Steven Craig organizes trips with non-profits like Green Mountain Adaptive Sports to bring his fellow veterans from Golf Battery 2/10 to the mountains to “Shred Memories of War,” re-unite old friends, and grow as a unit.

Steven says, “My life has been changed by the memories of combat being replaced with memories of skiing. The sounds of explosions have been replaced with the sounds the snow and skis make when I’m on edge. The anxiety of past combat operations is replaced with the adrenaline rush of skiing down my favorite run in ideal conditions. The memory of being on combat patrols in Afghanistan or Iraq is replaced with ripping down the slopes of a beautiful mountain in the country we fought so hard to protect.”

This team building adventure is made possible through a Move United VA 2024-2025 grant, which is being matched by Green Mountain Adaptive Sports.

You can also support this group with a donation to help them cover expenses while at Stowe. Thank you for giving as generously as you can. https://greenmtnadaptive.org/campaign/gmas-community-fundraiser-2024/fundraiser/51/.
