Local and area businesses are rallying up for #GivingTuesday, the ‘Day To Do Good” on November 29th, 2022 to donate a portion of their sales to support Green Mountain Adaptive Sports. #GivingTuesday is a year-round global movement to celebrate generosity and encourage members of communities to turn that generosity into a lifestyle.

GMAS’s goal is to raise $10,000, money that will give individuals with a disability a chance in 2023 to try a new sport or continue to enjoy adaptive lessons in a favorite sport. The #GivingTuesday Campaign is part of the GMAS CommUNITY Challenge

There are multiple ways for people, and businesses to engage in the program. Ginny Chenoweth, who is coordinating the program for GMAS, has been going door to door asking Stowe businesses to pick a day, a weekend, or a week of their choice, and donate a percentage of their sales during the given period, with a $250 minimum donation. Items for the annual raffle are also accepted.

In return, businesses get a little extra boost in the media for their involvement with their local adaptive sports program, as well as mentions on the GMAS webpage, social media, and the newsletter. Businesses are also asked to share their participation in the program on social media, and promote the campaign at their establishment so people can make an extra donation if they choose to.

Community members are also encouraged to visit the participating businesses and kick off their holiday shopping on #GivingTuesday or treat themselves to a great meal with friends and family at participating restaurants.

It’s a win-win-win, and all of the support helps get more people with special needs on the ski hill, in the pool, and trying new programs and activities supported by Green Mountain Adaptive Sports’ adaptive scholarships and programs.

The new fundraising campaign was launched for the first time in September this year, and it has already been extremely successful. Over a dozen businesses have already signed on, and many more are about to join the movement.

Please make a note and plan to visit these generous establishments so that your money will go even further this year. Here they are, with their offer:
