Cold rain and wind? No problem. Not for the runners who showed up for the 16th edition of the Trapp Cabin Trail races! Despite the not-so-perfect weather, the runners still had a good time on Sunday, September 20 and the event was successful for Green Mountain Adaptive Sports (GMAS). The annual event brought the community together for a slippery run on trails that are not usually open to the public — all while supporting the important work of GMAS making sports accessible for Vermonters with disabilities.

The annual event attracts runners from all over New England and beyond! This year, 107 races registered for the 5km ,10km, or the Half Marathon. The gun went off at 9am, and the rain started coming down fifteen minutes later. That didn’t stop the runners from finishing or from having fun. Even those who did two full loops for the Half Marathon were all smiles when it was over.

Evan White, age 14, clocked the fastest 5k time in 29:37. Hannah Gray was the first female 5k finisher. She finished in an impressive 33:47.

In the 10k, Hannah’s mother, Andrea Gray, age 47, was the fastest overall with a speedy time of 58:03. The fastest male crossed the line a few minutes later. That would be Ryan Christiansen, age 27, in a whopping 1:02:51.

And for those Half Marathoners who braved the wet, slippery conditions the longest, the first place finisher was Jeremy Huckins, age 43, who came in well under the two-hour mark with a blazing 1:48:58. The first place female was Delaney Walker, age 30, with a 2:11:39.

Congratulations to all the runners and thank you to all the volunteers! GMAS is grateful to all involved in the success of this event: Trapp Family Lodge, all the staff at the von Trapp Family Outdoor Center, Darn Tough Vermont, the volunteers, the timers, and all those who came out to cheer.

The results can be found here, and filters can be applied to break down the groups by gender, and category. We hope to see you all again next year!
