2025 GMAS Winter Challenge
Ski or ride, or create your own challenge to help Green Mountain Adaptive Sports raise $20,000 for instructor trainings at the 2025 Ski Spectacular in Breckenridge, CO.
Join us in the 2025 GMAS Winter Challenge on Monday, March 24, 2025 for a day of skiing and riding at Stowe Mountain Resort to raise funds for Green Mountain Adaptive Sports.
This year, the proceeds from this campaign will be used to fund instructor trainings, so that more of our local instructors have a chance to attend the 2025 Ski Spectacular and other trainings of their choices. We believe that the better trained our instructors are, the better lessons they will provide to our locals athletes.
The GMAS Winter Challenge is open to anyone wishing to challenge themselves to raise money for this important effort. Each individual fundraiser is responsible for setting their own fundraising goal.
Get creative!
This campaign can be combined with any other events, such as group skins with Mountain Ops, the Last Skier Standing competition, or any other personal or group challenges. Get creative, set a personal goal, choose any day this winter, the resort or trail of your choice, create a personal campaign, and raise funds to support this important Green Mountain Adaptive Sports fundraising campaign.
Simply donate if you don’t want to ski!
Thanks for making a donation to the general campaign, or to a specific fundraiser by March 31st. Help us reach our goal so we can help instructors attend more important trainings and earn additional certification in adaptive skiing and riding.
How it all started
The event started in 2022 when Stowe Ski Instructor and GMAS Board of Director member Tom Hall set out to ski over 55,000 feet of vertical elevation to mark his 55th birthday. He achieved, and even surpassed his goal, skiing over 79,000 feet of vertical elevation in one day. Through his fundraiser, he also raised over $16,000 which was used to upgrade GMAS’ adaptive ski equipment. Read the story.
in 2023, Tom challenged himself to match his previous accomplishment. Little did anyone know that he would shatter his record and ski 98,688 feet of vertical elevation in ONE day! That is 48 runs on the Four Runner Quad (in case you’re wondering!) His efforts helped fund two Ski Camps for Veterans in 2024.
In 2024, Tom skied an impressive 46 runs, and raised over $22,000 to support instructor trainings, and the purchase of the TetraSki. Read the story here.
We will be keeping our eyes peeled on Tom’s performance in 2025, and that of other friends of GMAS also joining the challenge to raise $20,000 that will be put forward to fund instructor trainings. This year’s event will take place on Monday, March 24, 2025.
Ski, ride, uphill ski, or simply raise money for the cause!
Participants are responsible for setting up their own campaign (Start Fundraising button) and for promoting it to their friends and family. Participants are also responsible for keeping track of their runs and vertical feet of skiing or riding, preferably on the Epic Mix App, or an App of their choice. It is easier to ask for a fixed donation than a pledge the way this system is set up, but it is still a lot of fun to keep track of total feet skied in one day.
For safety reasons, participants are invited to ski independently, and responsibly, but are encouraged to ski and ride with friends and supporters. Send us your photos!
All the donations raised will be collected through the GMAS online donation platform. There is also an option to make an offline donation on the platform if donors prefer to send a check to GMAS.
All proceeds raised through the 2025 GMAS Winter Challenge will support instructor trainings. This is a major strategic goal for GMAS, and we appreciate your efforts in helping us create more opportunities for people with disabilities to recreated on the ski runs of Stowe, Vermont!
We will keep collecting donations for the GMAS Winter Challenge until March 31st. We wish to remind everyone that safety is the number one priority, so we encourage people to ski responsibly, and set up achievable goals. Thank you for supporting the cause.
